About So, I guess I'll have to explain this site is polluting the internet with its existance? Why make a shrine devoted to two of the villains in the world of Naruto, filled with so many other characters? Villains are usually potrayed by the fandom and sometimes the series itself as heartless jerks who does nothing besides being evil. I'm not a villain lover by nature - I really felt motivated to kill off that final boss in Okami, while the bad side in Tales of Symphonia touched me. Kishimoto can create interesting characters, and it doesn't matter to me if they're classified as good or bad, I don't fall for that. I fall for interesting designs and personality, combined with an interesting past.Well, I am aware that these two didn't get a past, at least in the manga. I really hope that they get something in Shippuuden, because if they can waste one episode on trying to break the seal to get in to the Akatsuki cave, then they should really give these more screentime and a background. And then there's a lot of other stuff in the anime that wasn't in the manga, so there's always hope. To be honest, I wasn't fangirly over those two at first. They just grew on me, I think it was around the Hidan vs Asuma battle. It just clicked. I still loved Hidan more out of the duo, but when it was Kakuzu's turn to show off his skills in the battlefield, I somehow started to like him better. I can't think of a reason, I just love them to death. The end. Despite pairing this, I decided in the very beginning that this site would not contain huge amounts of stupid fangirling and instead, focus on actual content. I'm pretty biased when it comes to my OTP, but I really hate when people tries to force-feed a pairing down the throat. I wanted this site to stick to the platonic, actual facts even if this is a obscure relationship, at least compared to the infamous NaruSasu. It does have a platonic side which I'll gladly write about just for the sake of spreading some love instead of the 'they hate each other so much' because I don't believe in that. Kakuzu and Hidan needs love, both as individuals and together. It's obscure with small amounts of screen time, and someone needed to highlight it, especially the fact that they don't hate each other. The fanlisting was called Immortality at first, I thought it fitted both of them - Hidan's the one that's truly immortal as surviving decapitation, but even Kakuzu has immortality although not in the same way. It remained a working title for the shrine, but as I changed it to the final layout, I changed it. I needed something fresh and not so boring. Then I thought of the Name Needle & Thread. I see Kakuzu as the thread because he always need to sew back any limbs Hidan loses. The needle part suits Hidan, because needles are sharp and well, Hidan's practically married to sharp objects. Needle & Thread opened in it's fanlisting form on March, 30 2007. and I started to build on the shrine during May and was opened, though not finished, in August 2007. |
